Use it when you are planning a kitchen run, display joinery, shelving or another low-voltage project. The important checks are simple: match the voltage, allow enough driver capacity, observe polarity and choose components that suit the installation environment.

A 24V strip needs a 24V DC supply. Do not connect it to a 12V driver, a 230V strip supply or a mains circuit directly. Work out the strip's wattage for the planned length, then choose a 24V driver with enough capacity for that load. The driver and strip must also use compatible connections.
For fixed mains wiring, switch off the circuit and use a qualified electrician where the installation requires it. For product selection, compare the 24V LED power supplies and drivers with the LED strip lights you intend to use.
