Choose by voltage, load and environment

The table is a planning aid. The exact strip specification, installation location and manufacturer instructions still decide the final choice.

Check What to confirm Why it matters
Output voltage The strip and driver must both be 24V DC. A 12V strip is not interchangeable with a 24V supply. A voltage mismatch can damage the strip or create an unsafe installation.
Total wattage Multiply the strip wattage per metre by the total installed length. The supply must have enough capacity for the complete run. Include every section that will be powered from it.
Headroom Select a supply with capacity above the calculated load rather than running it at its limit. Extra capacity leaves room for a practical installation margin. Do not use a bigger supply to compensate for a voltage mismatch.
Location Check whether the driver will be indoors, in a protected void or exposed to weather. Many compact supplies in the power-supply collection are indoor IP20 products, while outdoor work needs a verified weather-rated option.
Control and accessories Confirm whether the system needs dimming, connectors, cabling or a profile. Browse striplight connectors and cabling as part of the same plan. For dimming, review the relevant dimmable LED lighting route and confirm system compatibility.

Check these details before you connect the strip

1. Read the strip labelConfirm 24V DC and note the wattage per metre before calculating the total load.
2. Measure the complete runInclude separate sections fed from the same driver, not only the first visible length.
3. Plan the cable routeKeep the power supply accessible for maintenance and avoid placing an indoor unit where it can get wet.
4. Match polarityFollow the product and strip wiring instructions for positive and negative terminals. If the circuit or enclosure is uncertain, use a qualified electrician.
5. Keep the system completeAllow for the correct connectors and cabling. For outdoor work, compare the supply with the broader outdoor-lighting range rather than assuming an indoor driver is suitable.

Common questions

Can I use a 24V supply with any LED strip?

Only use it with LED strip designed for 24V DC. Confirm the strip voltage before connecting it.

Can I choose a higher-wattage supply?

A higher-capacity supply can be appropriate when the output voltage matches and the installation is designed for it. It does not make an incompatible strip safe.

What if my project uses rolls, connectors or a control module?
