About
This mains-powered motion sensor floodlight is a simple, reliable way to light up outdoor areas like driveways, entrances, walkways, and side passages—switching on automatically when someone approaches to improve safety and visibility, without wasting power when it’s quiet.
This light is great for showing movement outside a garage or next to a gate. It catches people as they come and helps you see activity nearby. It also works well for lighting a patio, deck or steps during evening use, so guests can move safely. Homeowners who want simple, hands-free security will like it. It’s also useful for small businesses and guesthouses that need reliable, low-effort lighting near doors and service areas.

Driveway approach lighting: Mount 2–3m above the garage to light vehicles and visitors, improving visibility when parking and deterring loitering, then switch off automatically to save power.
Front door welcome and security: Install beside the entrance at 2–3m to greet guests and deter opportunists; choose warm white for a welcoming feel or daylight for sharper visibility.
Side passage safety lighting: Angle the beam down a narrow walkway to illuminate bins and gates, preventing trips at night while the PIR avoids lighting when no one passes.
Backyard patio and steps: Fit near the braai or deck steps to light movement at evening gatherings; choose warm white for relaxed ambience or daylight for maximum brightness.
Small shop service entrance: Mount above delivery door to light staff and parcels after hours; IP65 housing resists rain while motion activation saves energy when the alley is empty.
- Unpack the floodlight and verify all components are present: lamp housing, mounting bracket, screws and wall plugs, waterproof gasket.
- Switch off power at the main circuit breaker and confirm the supply is de-energised with a voltage tester.
- Determine the optimal mounting location (2–3 m above ground) and angle to cover the desired detection zone.
- Mark the bracket hole positions on the wall, drill holes, and insert the supplied wall plugs.
- Fix the mounting bracket to the wall using the supplied screws; ensure it is level and secure.
- Open the junction box on the back of the floodlight and fit the waterproof gasket into its groove.
- Connect the supply cables to the terminal block:
- Live (L) to brown or red
- Neutral (N) to blue or black
- Earth (⏚) to green/yellow
- Close and tighten the junction box cover to maintain the IP65 seal.
- Attach the floodlight housing to the mounting bracket and secure with the hinge bolt; tighten to hold the chosen angle.
- Adjust the PIR sensor settings:
- Sensitivity (range 1–8 m)
- Time-on (5 sec–5 min)
- Lux level (day/night activation)
- Restore power at the breaker and test the floodlight:
- Walk through the detection zone to verify motion activation.
- Observe that the lamp switches off after the set time.
- Fine-tune the PIR angle and sensitivity if necessary for optimal coverage.
- Periodically clean the lens and check seals to maintain performance and weatherproofing.
