A walk-over LED profile is designed for a different job from a decorative indoor channel. It needs to sit neatly within the floor or edge detail, protect the strip and present a suitable surface where people walk. The correct product depends on the loading and installation conditions, not just the word “outdoor”.

What walk-over means

Walk-over normally refers to pedestrian use. It should not be confused with a drive-over profile designed for vehicles. The featured product is positioned for pathways, step edges, patio borders and areas where people walk. Vehicle loading is not claimed on the product page.

Good locations for a walk-over profile

Use a continuous line to define a step edge, transition or pathway rather than trying to illuminate every surface equally. Keep the light source recessed and avoid creating a bright line that distracts from the route. A frosted cover helps soften the LED points.

Check the dimensions and strip width

The profile measures 21 x 26.1mm, is 3m long and supports a strip up to 10.5mm wide. Measure the recess and confirm the strip sits comfortably inside the channel. Do not assume a strip will fit because it is described as “slim”.

Plan corners, joins and access

Long lines often need more than one profile section. Plan joins, cable entries, end points and access before installation. Leave a sensible route for testing and maintenance. The profile should be secured without damaging the cover or placing pressure on the strip.
